There is no perfect parent!

There is no perfect parent and there is no journey as awakening as parenthood, as it requires us to be self-aware and present in every exchange.
It requires us to be introspective and understand how our demeanor affects our children. Though it’s easy to get caught up in the monotony of automated daily routines, we should strive to teach our children how to live life attentively, intentionally, and gratefully. We can do so by modeling mindfulness.
This isn’t always easy. Sometimes it means letting them get messy and not thinking about the cleanup that follows, but enjoying the moments in the mess together. Sometimes it means accepting that the tantrums or heated exchanges are brief moments in time and maintaining our calm. Sometimes it means taking the opportunity to listen and validate their experience.
Sometimes it’s just having a conversation while maintaining eye contact with our children, showing them that we are 100% present. Our busy schedules, unrealistic expectations of self, and digital connectivity present constant barriers to mindfulness so it requires intentionality and constant practice.
