Power of Choices

Help your child use their words by offering choices!

Ah yes, the power of choices!!! There are so many benefits to offering choices:
🔸 provides a model that your child can easily imitate!
🔸helps your child learn the meanings of words
🔸gives your child an opportunity to make a request
🔸helps your child feel in control of their environment which makes them more likely to communicate
🔹TIP: only offer a choice of 2 things, otherwise it’s overwhelming

Even if your child isn’t using words yet, your child can still practice making a request by pointing or reaching for the item they want. Hearing the names of items will grow your child’s understanding and they will know what to say when they are ready to use words.
