A Toddler's Tantrum

A Toddler's Tantrum

This is a gentle reminder for those who need it after this loooong holiday weekend.

To the mamas who made it through a meltdown or 20 by 7:30am today.🌪️ To the Dads desperately pleading with their toddler to please.just.stop.⚡ To those warrior parents who have caught dirty looks from friends, family and strangers (can we just say, EFF 'em!). To those who lived through nonstop holiday meltdowns this Easter weekend🙋🏻‍♀️🌪

Please hear this: Your toddler's tantrum says NOTHING about you as a parent. YOU are doing great. And YOU did not mess this whole parenting thing up. BYE GUILT!👋🏻

In fact, did you know that tantrums can be a GOOD thing?🤯 It’s a sign that your toddler’s brain development is right on track. They’re doing exactly what they should be: exploring limits, testing out how things work, and self-expressing when things feel uncomfortable and upsetting.

And, while tantrums are natural, you deserve the tools needed to navigate these insanely tough moments.💯 Next time your LO melts down, try our power packed tantrum combo: SEE THEM + OK THE FEELING + BOUNDARY.

Here's your 🌪️ script:
“I hear you really want more iPad NOW.”

“It’s ok to feel mad/sad that iPad is all done.”

“We're all done with iPad for now. We will have more iPad time tomorrow.”

This Boundary piece is KEY. When you, in utter exhaustion say, "FINE! Just one more show," your child just learned "Ooohhhh next time I want one more show, or one more cookie, I'll scream and yell until Mama gives it to me." So calmly + confidently hold that boundary. Every single time.

When you implement this tantrum plan consistently, you'll see them shorten in duration, frequency + in intensity. Going into a tantrum with a plan empowers YOU to be the cool, calm, confident parent that you DEFINITELY are.😎
